Tracheocele or tracheal diverticulum is a rare tracheal alteration. It can be congenital or acquired, and it´s formed by the herniation of the tracheal mucosa through a weak area between the traqueal rings. It can be asymtomatic, or it can also cause respiratory and digestive, chronic and recurrent symptoms, such as persistent cough, respiratory infections and regurgitation. The most important complication that it can produce, is the difficulty of an orotracheal intubation during a general anesthesia. The treatment, when it´s necessary, consists on the surgical closure of the tracheal defect.
